Pedestrian Council of Australia Chairman Harold Sruby said the police and government had not done enough to weed out illegal bullbars in the country. "They are giant things, weighing about half a ton; they are very, very sharp," he added, describing the "dreaded" five poster bullbars. Amid these criticisms, NSW Highway Safety Patrol inspectors are more than likely to conduct a crackdown on such vehicles, especially in Dubbo, to prevent cases of related accidents. As such, car owners are advised to follow safety standards when installing light bars, driving lights, and other accessories outside of their vehicles.

Reports said the police will be keeping a closer eye on cars less than five years old since these vehicles did not undergo roadworthiness check, unlike older car models.
